Poinsettia Bowl History

The Poinsettia Bowl kicked off in December 2005 and ran twelve straight seasons, bringing teams from across the country to San Diego the week before Christmas. Over that span, it produced an NCAA bowl record for combined yardage in its very first game, featured a Heisman Trophy finalist (2013), and culminated in a future NFL caliber showdown between Josh Allen (Wyoming) and Jamaal Williams (BYU).

Seven programs, one trophy

Navy, TCU, Utah, SDSU, BYU, Utah State and Boise State all left San Diego with a trophy. TCU took three of them. The bowl played its last game in December 2016.
